Serbia centers on Belgrade, a city known for its nightlife, riverside fortress, and blend of Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, and communist-era architecture. Outside the capital, Novi Sad and the Uvac River canyon offer a quieter side of the country. Prices stay low, and the food, heavy on grilled meat and rakija, reflects the wider Balkan style. It’s not on most travelers’ radar yet, which makes it feel less packaged than its neighbors.
