Poland balances heavy history with a fast-growing modern side, from Auschwitz-Birkenau and Warsaw’s rebuilt old town to Kraków’s well-preserved medieval center. Food is hearty and cheap, built around pierogi, soup, and strong vodka. Cities here have invested a lot into rebuilding and restoration since the war, and it shows. It remains one of the better-value countries in Europe for the amount you get to see.
